Did you know that Gnocchi was initially made with only water & flour, and not potatoes?


Gnocchi existed 9,000 years BC. Originally, it was made out of simple dough of cold water and flour, with a more or less rounded shape. Potatoes became a part of the recipe only in the 16th century when Italy started importing potatoes from America.
